Tic Tac Toe: Letter/Number/Word

This is an email that I sent to my OT families this week. You have permission to use it but please modify it to meet your student's needs:

Hello,

Today I do not have a video for you today but this is an easy activity that you can practice with sight words, numbers, or letters.

Tic Tac Toe

This game plays similarly to regular tic tac toe (make a 3 x 3 grid and the winner is the first who gets three in a row). However, instead of using Xs and Os, start by choosing a letter, number, or word (depending on what you are working on). You must write the letters of the word correctly (appropriate size without any reversals) within the box or it will not count. To make it a little easier you could even draw different colored lines inside the tic tact toe box to help with placement or boxes for numbers. This is an excellent way to work on practicing letters/numbers that are being reversed frequently because, as I mentioned...practice makes perfect! This is also a great way to work on spelling or focusing on writing letters accurately on the line.

Remember we are focusing on how well you can form your letters or numbers inside the box using good letter formation.

Extra tip: You can also draw this out and put it inside a gallon ziplock bag or a sheet protector and then use dry erase markers to write on it so that you can reuse the grides!

Here are the pictures for examples:
